It seems that more and more businesses are seeing the light and increasing their investment in digital marketing. This week eConsultancy have announced that UK spend on Search Engine Optimisation has increased by 16% in 2010 in comparison to 2009.
The UK SEO market is now worth £436m and the eConsultancy survey shows that the number of businesses expecting to increase their SEO spend has increased from 55% in 2009 to 60% in 2010.
With Google continuing to dominate the search market and make regular changes and algorithm updates, it is vital that businesses have a good understanding of the importance of SEO and the need to increase their future SEO investment.
So what does the future hold for 2011?
With the constant reminder of budget cuts and job losses in the media I’m sure many business will be very reluctant when it comes to increasing their marketing budgets. But I believe that with the ability to continually monitor and track digital marketing results SEO spend will continue to increase in 2011 and there will be more businesses realising the importance of Conversion Rate Optimisation particularly those that are targeting competitive keywords.
