Apple are good at stuff. Stuff like making gadgets that look good and work and make you look cool.
That’s why so many people were seen queuing from the early hours on Thursday morning to get their hands on the iPhone 4:
Only problem is – getting your hands on the iPhone is the last thing you want to do, if you actually want it to work correctly!
One of the new features of the iPhone is it’s antenna is contained within a metal strip that wraps around the phone, however, it’s become apparent that reception drops dramatically when held from below, as demonstrated here:
Ok, so that’s a design flaw that went unnoticed – you can only presume there are no left handers employed at Apple, why would there be?
Apple has acknowledged the problem, and users have been told “avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases”.
Steve Jobs towed the official company line by telling a user “Just don’t hold it that way.”!!!!!!!
The only flaw in that arguement is that most of the Apple advertising for the iPhone actually shows the user holding it “that way”.
Not the best customer service Apple has ever given. I’ll wait for iPhone 5 myself, just so long as I’m not expected to want to use it as phone or anything like that.
