I don’t mind admitting it, I have a soft spot for Lady Gaga – not sure if it’s a guilty pleasure or if I just like freaky girls, but none the less, I do have some time for her.
That said, I was a bit surprised by her latest collabration as she recently visited Google HQ – not only that, she took part in a Q&A that lasted an hour or so and included Google employees asking her questions whilst donning some of her randomly outrageous outfits.
To be fair, Lady Gaga chucks more than her fair share of traffic the way of Google with 25,000,000 searches a month and 443,000,000 results returned. She was also the first artist to crack 1 billion views on YouTube. This is actually represented toward the start of the presentation with a tag cloud of her searches forming into a fancy image of her:
Not wanting to leave her favourite online platforms out, she also visited Twitter HQ and met the engineers whom she keeps busy with her 8,996,947 (at the time of writing) followers.
I say fair play to her – whilst Google and Twitter may see these visits as very good publicity stunts for themselves, it would seem she appreciates what the internet and social media platforms she uses have done to help her promote herself and her music and long may it continue, not just for her but for other current and aspiring musicians.
