Is Today’s Google Logo Relevant?

3rd February 2010 |  Written by Dave Ashworth

As someone who always likes a good Google logo, I was a little disspointed with the latest one:

Nice picture and all that, but who is Norman Rockwell?  This logo has been used to celebrate his birthday and as it turns out, he’s an American illustrator famed for his work on the Saturday Evening Post, an early day American “Matt” you might say.  But still, the relevance to the UK?  As it says on his Wikipedia entry “His works enjoy a broad popular appeal in the United States”.  Still, I’ll get over the dissapointment and wait for the next Google logo with equal if not more anticipation to this one.

If you can’t wait till then, check out out our Google Logo Design Archive.

Still, some good Google news, Katy Perry recently found out that Russell Brand was going to propose to her via Google Alerts!  Turns out she has alerts presumably set up for her own name, and when she had a look at the latest news, she read reports about Russell buying her a ring.  As this article explains, it wasn’t a coincidence either, with Russell Brand explaining the reason for these articles appearing – “I was buying rings!”.  Is this the first proposal by proxy where Google Alerts is concerned?  Lets hope so.
